Is it okay to do a salt soak on a cartilage piercing the day right after?

So I got my cartilage pierced today (left ear) and it’s really sore. I haven’t touched it what so ever but I was wondering if I could do a salt soak right now to clean it. It was pierced with a needle and the piece of jewelry is a horse shoe thingy with a ball that unscrews on one side. The pain is driving me up the wall and I was wondering if anyone knew how to reduce this?

don’t use a salt soak- it burns!! the only way i could ever get mine relieved was to put enough ice on it til it went numb, but mine felt completely better after about a week.
