I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth here?
By admin on Feb. 23, 2010.
I was in traffic court recently (on a trumped up charge) and the judge said to me,"You’re driving record appears clean". Now I know that’s not true because I had a ticket for running a red (that turned red mind you) 5 months prior and a speeding ticket 3 years before that. How could they not know?
Not all cities turn thier traffic offenses into the national or state data bases. don’t know why but they dont’.
And often while it would show up, a ticket over 3 years ago is not normally taken into consideratioini.
And then on the 5 month old ticket, often it can take months for some departments to show thier convictions onto the state system.
so it is possible, he did not worry about a 3 year old ticket and the other one is not in the system yet.
with court backlogs, I have seen it take 5 months to a year for some courts to enter the information into the state system.

Was it in a different city? A lot of the computer systems don’t talk to each other…

Did he "wink" at you when he said that
Perhaps he was being sarcastic

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
It doesn’t matter why he didn’t know (assuming he didn’t), all that matters is that the court didn’t pay attention to them.
The only real crime in the US is getting caught (convicted), otherwise, everyone is innocent.

Compared to the people he usually sees, yours was spotless. Trust me I’ve been to traffic court a few times and I have heard some nasty records. I have no idea why they would even go to court. People that elect to go to court and have pretty good records are rare, most people choose to pay the ticket.

Hush. And stop getting traffic offenses, too. If he’s wrong and it’s not clean, then it will be after awhile. Or if you keep getting stopped, even if he was right and it is/was clean, it won’t be for long! Slow down and drive safe, young man.
