a good place to buy room decor.?
By admin on Nov. 6, 2009.
I’m in the process of redecorating my childrens rooms.
my daughter wants tinkerbell in sort of a lavender look.
my son wants horses with a southwestern / western look.
Im needing bedding. walls ect. I was hoping someone knew of a Cheap place that I could get some of this stuff at? and any ideas you would like to share for creativity on a very short budget! Id love to hear from you. thanks
Buy the tink bedding at walmart.com….I believe it is severely discounted right now. Or to really save buy lavender or purple bedding and accent with lime green throw pillows. Buy extra sheets and make the curtains to coordinate.
Then, grab a tink coloring book, a projector (sold at decorating store about $20 or borrow from library), and some acrylic paints and make a mural. Or, just paint a flying line (a dotted line in coordinating colors-if walls lavender paint deep purple.) across three of the walls and paint a basketball sized tinkerbell on one wall.
Total girls room cost $80-$100 including bedding, projector and paints.
Western, I would check out walmart.com for either a southwestern or kiddie western theme bedding. Or just a plain denim comforter. Pick up a cheap kids cowboy hat and toss on bed. Paint walls to look like old western ghost town. (just buildings with signs above doors) Maybe get a cheap lamp with base and attach cowboy boots, some plastic horses.
Total boys cost $100 includes bedding paint and simple accessories. Remember to utilize the salvation army stores or other second hand places for decorative pieces. On certain days of the week they have discounts and their prices are already real low!
good luck.

Either Target or Linens & Things.
Both stores would have what you need, prolly.

Hello! First of all, your children sound pretty young so remember this: They will grow up! When decorating a child’s room, especially on a budget, you don’t want to go overboard! Even though they are so cute and you want to give them everything you didn’t have when you were that young! So, that being said, paint color is key because it is the cheapest, easiest thing to change say in five years when they want some new scheme! Take them to the store and let them pick the color! Disney offers colors that are perfect matches to your childrens’ favorite colors! That way they get the exact shade of Tinkerbell lavender and they feel their opinion matters! As for the themes, some stores to try are Target, Marshall’s, JC Penny, Sears, and Kmart. They sell relatively low cost bedding and other accessories. Also, I’m sure your kids have toys of their favorite characters so try incorporating them into the room as decoration. That way they are still accessible for play and may encourage your kids to put them away when they are done playing so their rooms can look nice! Hope this was helpful! Good luck!

For bedding try walmart and target for the best prices, for accessories also try those stores and maybe local thrift stores, look for things you can paint, like a dresser or headboard and trunk. Use things like rope to wrap around a lamp base and use as a border at the top of the wall for the boys room and bandannas are great for pillow covers and cheap too. For the tinkerbell look, search on ebay for tinkerbell bedding, I bet there is gobs and just pull from that for colors. I bet for about $100 each you can make these rooms look great. Go to fabric stores and look for remnant sales and look in pattern books for inspiration, they are usually full of theme room ideas for kids and easy to make pillows and curtains. It doesn’t take alot of money just some creativity. Have your kids paint their own artwork, there’s nothing cuter than a painting of a horse and cowboy or a fairy done by your kids. Use things in your house in a different way too, if you have tables in the garage or an old chair rethink them a bit. Good luck and have fun!
