birthday gift for a horse lover?

By admin on Nov. 6, 2009.

one of my friends from the therapeutic riding barn i volunteer at just had a birthday & she’s having a party. i have no clue what to get her. honestly, i don’t even know her that well lol. i dont know that she has a lot of friends so i feel like i should go. all i really know is she loves horses, takes lessons (hunter/jumper), and does small shows. she does NOT own her own horse or even lease. please dont say grooming supplies/saddle blankets/etc. im looking for a gift for a horse lover without a horse. she’s 17 by the way.
great answers so far! lets keep in mind i have a horse of my own…meaning i dont have all the money in the world to spend lol. im looking for something under 20

You could get her a subscription to a horse magazine (horsechannel.com), a gist card to the tack shop, a horse book

  4. Horse treats are always a safe bet. She will get to use them on the horses she rides to make them like her better, and she could give them to the therapeutic horses too.

    It’s the gift that gives!

I love to get horse treats. They are never the wrong size or color, and horses don’t really care what flavor they are!

  5. make a picture frame out of pieces of wood, and right her name with small twigs. then paint a horse shoe with her favorite color and glue things on that you can find in the pasture. maybe a few pieces of hay, a feather, or just whatever you can find.

too much work? then buy her a horse book about riding and/or the care and keeping of a horse. i definitely love getting those kind of books!

i hope that this helped! good luck! :)

  10. I think something like stationary or a towel, blanket or mug with really nice horse pics printed on them, would be a nice horse themed gift that should not cost you more then $20 and would be used by her, best of luck!

  11. Ask her what her favorite color of horse is, if you don’t know what it means, google image it, then go to a Breyer (model horse company) with the same color.
I collect Breyers and they look realistic :) However, if you attempt to sit on one (lol) it WILL break.

  12. im not sure if you’re saying a girl you help teach there or one of your friends that helps out there too. if it’s one that helps out there too then just go with one of the other ideas. if it’s one that you help teach then go with one of the ones below :)

first off i want to say thank you for volenteering at a theraputic riding center. my brother has down syndrome and is apart of one and the people that work there are really sweet and nice :)
it depends on the type of "disease" they have. these below that i listed are for people who have down syndrome and things alike (like autisym)
i like the ideas given so far. especially the one about horse treats. you just have to be careful, she could feed them too many on accident. i also like the card one, too, but maybe a little more? and the prepaid riding lessons are good, but she might not really understand the true concept of the gift. the horse shoe would work, too. maybe you could get some painting supplies and a horse shoe/name plate and have her decorate her horse’s name tag (not really her horse, but still) that goes up on the stall and help her put it up (but make sure it’s ok with the owner first). or you could get her a 20 or 30 dollar gift card to the nearest tack shop so she can go pick out something she likes like maybe a new brush? or riding pants?
    good luck!

  13. Get her a pair of cool patterned riding gloves. They aren’t expensive (under $20 for sure). Or a helmet cover.

  16. The Equitrekking TV series on DVD, where they go horseback riding around the world, is a unique gift for horse lovers and they have four DVDs. I just brought a couple for a friend and her daughter, who want to take a riding vacation.
