An important aspect of the Elaine Coyne Galleries’ collections has always been our equestrian motifs. As a young girl I did some riding and always loved it. As a special dream, my Dad said I could get a horse of my own for my 12th birthday and keep it in our garage in our NYC home. Of course, a NYC garage is no place for a horse but, young girls are such dreamers. My Dad figured I would grow out of my desire by 10 years old and the dream would fall by the wayside.

Well, I guess he was wrong. The love affair with a phantom horse never died and instead, each and every year, I am destined to come out with new and touching horse motifs in collectible jewelry and designer belts. They satisfy my dream and hope they satisfy yours.

Underclassman gift to Seniors

The underclassman Altos in my choir did this for us Senior Altos, cuz they love us. It is probably the best gift I have ever gotten, or will ever get. Sorry it’s so shaky. The only thing you miss at the end is all of us running up to the girls and hugging them.

Simple Gifts performs My Horses Ain’t Hungry

Simple Gifts performs a traditional Appalachian ballad arranged by group member Karen Hirshon. Accompanied by Linda Littleton on hammered dulcimer and Rachel Hall on tabla. The guitar is tuned CGCGCD, and Karen is using a Mississippi John Hurt fingerpicking style.

Based in State College, PA, Simple Gifts draws on an impressive variety of ethnic folk styles, this award-winning trio plays everything from lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer frailachs and haunting Gypsy melodies, spicing the mix with the distinctive rhythms of Balkan dance music, the lush sounds of Scandinavian twin fiddling, and original compositions written in a traditional style. This song was named “song of note” by Indie Acoustic.

My dad struck a good deal with a customer of his, and got a nice horse for my little sister. She’s always wanted one, and definitely deserves it. When she’s walking to the door, she has absolutely no idea what’s on the other side. She just thought she was going to give my grandparents a hug because they were visiting. Surprise!!!
