What do I wear for horse riding?
By admin on Jun. 8, 2011.
Ok o it says I must wear when riding:
All riders must wear an Australian standard approved riding helmet.
All riders must wear approved boots with small heels with little or no tread – runners or work boots are not permitted.
Sensible, comfortable clothes – not loose or flapping, or tight. They should protect against external abrasions or weather – we suggest a top with collar a sleeves.
Do not wear jewelry that could get caught or lost, or hairstyles that obscure vision when riding. We also suggest shatter proof glasses.
Could you please help find some horse riding outfits that could with that. Im 14 years old but I really insecure about my weight/ image.
Thanks
Riding helmet, obvious – it has to be a helmet specifically for horseback riding, though. If it’s not specifically for riding, it’s not going to cut it. Riding helmets protect better against the kind of falls riders experience than the kind of falls someone experiences from a bike.
Paddock boots work fine – half-chaps are a great thing to pair them with. If not, you can just go for the full calf riding boots. Whatever you prefer.
Jeans ARE fine to ride in – I’ve never ridden in anything except for jeans, they are FINE and I have never had any horse-related accident that would’ve been solved by wearing something other than jeans. As long as your jeans are not super baggy, you should be okay. IF you choose to ride in jeans, I strongly urge you to get paddock boots and half chaps, as full calf riding boots will not work well with them at all and you’re going to want something to protect your calf from the stirrup leather.
Alternately, you can ride in jodhpurs or breeches if you prefer. Calf protection is not as important with these as they generally come with padding on the calves for that reason.
As for shirts, a t-shirt will suffice, or a polo, or.. well, whatever you’re comfortable in.
I also suggest riding gloves, but they aren’t necessary.

Bay Horse Bit-style Bracelet
By admin on May. 27, 2011.
http://www.equestrianjewelry.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=EA0722
This is a circa 1930 reverse crystal of a bay horse set in a new 14 carrot gold bezel bit-style necklace. Features a 14 millimeter reverse crystal of a bridled bay horse with a blaze set in a new 14 carrot gold snaffle bit necklace. There are .24 carrot weight of diamonds set in the gold. The reverse crystal is in excellent condition and the lovely white mother of pearl background makes the crystal glow. The entire bit measures one and three quarter inches across, and the sparkling diamonds heighten the elegance of the necklace. The chain is a strong and attractive rope chain, again, with lots of sparkle. The neckpiece measures 17 and a half inches in length. This is a consummate piece of equestrian jewelry which will only increase in value. This beautiful neckpiece is sure to make any horse lover smile.

What is the best material to use for a necklace made for a horse?
By admin on May. 13, 2011.
I am wanting to make a necklace/ neck rope, for my horse, that would be used as a tool also. I would be pulling on the necklace a bit to ask her to stop and turn.
I was wondering what stringing material would be best for this project?
I thought maybe leather/ suede? or some kind of rope?
I can’t really use metal cord or fishing line, because that would cut into her neck.
I’m not so familiar with jewelry making and don’t know all available materials that would work for this project.
other details: I plan to use bone and wood beads along with claw or tusk pendants, so the stringing material can’t be something like a thick rope.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions!!
I would plait thinner leather strings into a strong rope and then just attach the beads separately with thinner string (tiger tail).

Secret undergarments: sports bra and if you have riding underwear (padded ones)
Hat head disguise: something to hide your messy hair after you take off your helmet (hat or headband)
Rain gear: you can buy this at online takc places. It is clear plastic covers for hat/helmet and a coat
Leg wraps: polo wraps
Mane tamer: lycra stretchy neck cover that flattens the mane on one side of the neck (if your horse’s mane is crazy)
Tails: fake tails
Hoof polish/sandpaper: Either black or clear hoof polish (like nail polish for horses). sandpaper is used to sand the hoof to make it smooth so the polish sticks well.

Hole punch: used to punch holes in stirrup leathers to lengthen or shorten them
Groom room carpet: carpet for your tack room of your trailer, not necessary
Tool box/hardware: for emergency saddle, bridle, trailer, equipment repairs.

Any idea where I could find discontinued Montana Silversmiths jewelry? Want First Love necklace?
By admin on Mar. 28, 2011.
I’m looking for the Montana Silversmiths "First Love" necklace. The charm on the necklace has a girl kissing the horse’s nose. I had one and lost it. I’d appreciate it if anyone could tell me where to find one.
