Simple Gifts performs a traditional Appalachian ballad arranged by group member Karen Hirshon. Accompanied by Linda Littleton on hammered dulcimer and Rachel Hall on tabla. The guitar is tuned CGCGCD, and Karen is using a Mississippi John Hurt fingerpicking style.
Based in State College, PA, Simple Gifts draws on an impressive variety of ethnic folk styles, this award-winning trio plays everything from lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer frailachs and haunting Gypsy melodies, spicing the mix with the distinctive rhythms of Balkan dance music, the lush sounds of Scandinavian twin fiddling, and original compositions written in a traditional style. This song was named “song of note” by Indie Acoustic.

Three Gifts for Cinderella

The UK narrated version of this fairy tale has long been lost by the BBC archives but it features a strong storyline beautiful scenery and a White Horse called Eurocheq well i bet iv’e spelt that wrong! As the White Horses series was brought into the UK by Mrs Peggy Miller the then senior film buyer at the BBC so was “Three gifts for Cinderella” from the tales from Europe strand, it was transmited at 5.15 pm and narrated by Gabriel Wolf…

Does the saying ‘Never trust Greeks who bare gifts’ come from the Trojan Horse?

(I’m not too sure on this story but I think it went like this)
The people of Troy were like the first Romans and the invaders (Achilles and the others) were Greek and they handed the people of Troy a horse to Poseidon but it really had Greeks in it and they came out and attacked, so the gift was a trick that lead to the fall of the city of Troy. So is this where the saying comes from?
That is correct. The event does not occur in Homer’s Iliad, which ends before the fall of the city, but is referred to in the Odyssey. The main ancient source for the story is the Aeneid of Virgil, a Latin epic poem from the time of the Roman emperor Augustus. By the way, the Trojans were not Roman, they were Greeks also. They just happen to live in Asia Minor (present day Turkey), and not on mainland Greece. But the Romans did claim to be descended from the Trojans (they believed themselves to be descended from Prince Aeneas of Troy).

Artists Scott Kildall and Victoria Scott take you inside the making of a real life “Gift Horse” sculpture that will parade the streets of San Jose. Later it will be gifted to the San Jose Museum of Art as part of the 01SJ Biennial.

Hey! I want to get a present for my trainer, and she already has new tack ( bridle, saddle pad, brushes) so I wanted to get her something for her horse she could use but out of the ordinary…any ideas? what could I make for her? buy? pictures?
You can never go wrong with a gift card to your local feed/tack store. The embroidery thing for the halter or blanket was a great idea, as someone already stated, the picture idea is really cute too! You could get her a nice horsey picture frame she can put one of her special horse pic in.
If she wears jewelry you could get something that has to do with horses.(I’ve seen stirrup earrings that are really cute!, or horseshoe necklace, bracelet, etc.)
