present for horse enthusiast?
By admin on Nov. 30, 2009.
Hi, I am thinking ahead to Christmas and want to get something useful for my mother in law. She is 50 and has a horse. I want to get a gift but nothing tacky like a horse notepad haha. Ideally smething that can be used. I have bout 20 quid to spend on it as im putting it with other presents. Any suggestions from any horse lovers out there would be much appreciated. ![]()
I love anything with horses, even notepads, haha. But you could have a picture of her own horse put on a shirt, purse, mousepad, etc. That way it’s more personal. Good luck!
What Size Jewelry Would I Use For My Rook?
By admin on Nov. 27, 2009.
I’ve had my rook done for a while now and want to replace the bent barbell with a steel ball circular barbell (like a horse shoe). what diameter for the ring should I use? I don’t want to get a ring that is too small.
what do you have in now? that would probably be a good choice.

What does the phrase ‘don’t look a gift horse in the mouth’ mean?
By admin on Nov. 27, 2009.
What I think it means is, when someone gives you a horse as a gift, you don’t look at it in the mouth and be like, ‘This horse has cabbage in his teeth, I don’t want it anymore.’ Like, you can’t get a gift, and then inspect it, and turn your nose up at it.
My mom thinks I’m nuts, though.
What does the phrase actually mean?
And when would it be used?
When someone gives you a gift, as in the case of the horse, you shouldn’t start checking his mouth .. one way people tell if a horse is healthy is by looking at its teeth and gums. You should show your appreciation and not be looking for motives of why you got the gift, because then you show you question the friendship of the gift giver .. and that is considered a slap in the face in any culture.

I’m thinking of doing my room in a ‘vintage fairytale’ theme…But I’m strapped for decor ideas. Help?
By admin on Nov. 27, 2009.
I have a lot of antiques, such as hand fans, old dolls, wooden horses, carousel boxes, and lots of old fairytale books. Since I love fairytales and old things, I decided to do my room once we move (we’re moving to another state) in a vintage fairytale style. I love dark wood furniture, and I already have that in my current room. But I’m wondering if anyone has ideas for redoing the room in our new house?
I really like the whole ‘Country French’ theme, and Victorian fashion.
I’m fourteen, but I know what I like. I don’t want my room to be so specific that I can’t grow with it though.
You should paint your room the color of the sunset so either yellow, light orange, beige or tan *if you want a cozy cottage feeling*, (only if you’re going to do that) then find a lamp or light that gives off a dim orange glow. With your dark furniture, old books, antiques, and a few candles lit, at night it would feel just like a fairytale cottage. But that’s only if you want that kind of mood. Also get curtains that drape downward easily, they should match and be darker than your walls of course, and look nice at night.
Actually it’s really easy to change the style of a room. The only problem is deciding what color the room should always be to fit whatever style you want, if you want to change your room frequently or through years just move the furniture around or make little adjustments. Like bringing in some flowers, making it more open, etc

what problem do you have with your current clothesline/clothes horse? and what features do you prefer to have?
By admin on Nov. 27, 2009.
problems with the conventional clothes line/clothes horse and what features do u want to have to modify it
* Less problems with the plastic coating for discoloration to clothes. But plastic will crack in time & winter.
* Cotton cord will rot over time & could discolor hanging clothes.
* Heavy gauge wire strung between solid posts worked best (just make sure it is not the type that rusts). Can take wet cloth & ‘walk’ the line prior to use. Have pole with fork to support middle of wire when has heavy clothes on it.
* Any cotton cord or plastic covered rope can be used inside without problems.
* Wooden horses, the wood dolls have a tendancy to yellow/ stain clothing when the finish gone from age & use. Every couple of years, clear coat it.

I need help finding 14K horse earrings?
By admin on Nov. 27, 2009.
I was really hoping to find a hoop with a horse head on them. I found them in sterling, but need 14K. Actually, I’m getting desperate, does not have to be a hoop. Any kind of 14K horse would be good.
NOT anything huge, something small-medium size. I would be thrilled if anyone has seen anything like this. I’ve looked locally (all day today) and also looked quite a bit online with no luck. Oh, and hoping for under $100 bucks. Trying to find the perfect gift for a horse lover.
Oooo my contacts..ya gotta love ‘em! Looking for person earrings…14 Karat, not carrot..though nice play on words!

Link to the silver ones, but those irritated her ears.
Do you have a link to the silver ones? Living in the horse capital, I can look around for you. A couple of thoughts off hand that you may want to look online (you may have already, I know you are the online wiz) is a specialty store called "A Taste of Kentucky" also the KY Derby Museum is my other immediate thought.

What’s a cheap (under $50) , creative gift that i can get for a 16 year old girl who likes horses?
By admin on Nov. 23, 2009.
I’m going to her party this weekend and i have NO idea.
She used to have a horse but she had to give it away.
She still loves horses though.
hi, i’m 15 and i love horses and no offense guys but i wouldn’t be so hot on any of those things you guys said so far. Appreciative, yes, but it wouldn’t blow me away. Do you know if she still rides horses? If she does, then that opens a lot of great gift possibilities. You could get a saddle pad, helmet cover, tack box, tack bag, saddle cover, brushes, grooming supplies( fly spray, show sheen, spot out, shedding block). "horses people" always need things for both them and thier horses so you might even want to ask her if theres anything special she wanted that you could pick up for her. i know now that its almost spring and horses are shedding out i’m in desparate need of a new shedding block and show sheen. If she jumps a cute pair of polos or a riding jacket could be nice. There are definitely a lot of possibilities. If she doesn’t ride anymore then youre still not out of luck. Often if you stop in at a tack shop or a supply store (like farm and fleet) and they’ll have cute items for the horse lover. A journal with a horse on it for her to write in, a calandar with horses on it, candle holders in the shape of horses ( i just saw some cute ones the other day!), or maybe she’d enjoy movies like Flicka, Hidalgo or classics like black beauty, national velvet, or seabiscut. Also the new T.V show on ABC Family about horses is Wildfire (geared at the age group anywhere from 13-18) and seasons 1-3 are on DVD, i’m sure she’d love that. If you know of a riding shop or a tack shop near by you could always get a gift card and let her pick out whatever she needs. As long as you tried i’m sure she’ll appreiciate whatever you decide on. Good luck!
